Chocolate Avocado Pudding

This is pure decadence, my friends.

Who doesn’t love chocolate pudding?

I’ve seen Chocolate Avocado Pudding on other blogs before and have been wanting to try it for myself. It didn’t disappoint! The avocado lends such a wonderful, creamy texture.

If you simply Google “Chocolate Avocado Pudding” you’ll get a ton of hits. I combined a couple of slightly different recipes, ultimately using the measurements I share below. But I really think the key is to taste and adjust throughout. Some will like a stronger chocolate flavor, some will like more or less sweetener…and trust me, the taste-testing process is delicious. ;-)

Chocolate Avocado Pudding
Serves 2

Ingredients
1 medium ripe avocado, diced or mashed
1/3 – 1/2 cup sweetener of choice (1/3 cup was sweet enough for me; I used raw agave nectar because of its milder flavor, but honey or maple syrup would also work)
2-3 Tbsp unsweetened cocoa powder (I used 3, and it was pretty chocolate-y!)
2 tsp pure vanilla extract
1/4 tsp sea salt
3-4 Tbsp water

1. Place avocado, sweetener, cocoa powder, vanilla, and salt in a blender or food processor.

2. Begin blending, adding water 1 tbsp at a time until you have a creamy consistency.

3. Chill for at least 20 minutes before serving if you like your pudding cold (like I do).

Have you ever tried Chocolate Avocado Pudding? Think you will? Are you a fan of pudding in general?

    No I haven’t tried it. I’ve actually never tried avocado… :)
I’m not a huge fan of pudding but I’ll eat it on some special occasions :)
It does look really good though.

I am definitely a fan of anything pudding! But I have never tried Chocolate avocado pudding, so thanks for the recipe. It looks way creamy. Have a Happy Sunday!

  3. I have made it before but it did not turn out well. I thought it was pretty terrible, actually. I was thinking this morning that I would like to give it another try, though.

  4. i’m gonna take your word for it…and now that we’re in “avocado season” i’m going to test taste it on the hubby :)

  5. I know I need to be a believer but there is something about it that doesn’t sit well with me. I am scared to try it because I have made avacado smoothes before and they just didn’t work.

  6. I like avocados but never tried it in a chocolate pudding before…can you taste the avocado at all or does it just give you that creamy decadent texture?

  7. I had an avocado at lunch. And it was tasty. But I’m thinking I might have another at dinner… only as chocolate pudding. Thanks for the great idea! :-)

  9. You know what’s strange? I LOVE avocado, and I’m usually totally up for trying new (bizarre) recipes. But for some reason the chocolate-avocado pudding just does not seem appealing to me :/ I’ve seen it on other blogs as well and everyone swears by it, but I’m still a skeptic! I will however say that it LOOKS decadently delicious!

This sounds awesome! I have seen this around the blogosphere, too…I’ll have to give it a shot!

I tried an avocado smoothie this weekend (posting the recipe tomorrow)…it was DELICIOUS!

I made this and it is FANTASTIC. Thank you so much for publishing. I need something high in B vitamins that won’t get cooked out for my son. It’s excellent. Mine came out tasting like Dutch Chocolate. Yum.

This is great stuff. I tried it awhile ago and was not disappointed. What is really interesting, at least for me, is that it is very rich and extremely filling. Perhaps because I use a banana and sometimes add coconut oil and coconut flakes.

  14. [...] into my 5 year old. I'm planning to try a chocolate/avocado pudding for her next…something like this recipe. Might try to sneak in a tablespoon of bone broth, too, in place of some of the water. [...]

WOW! Best pudding I’ve ever had and will definitely make it for guests. I shared it with my 3 children (13-years, 10-years, & 7-years) and my chicken nugget picky 7-year old eater finished first! So excited that I found this on-line. THANKS
